Visit from Akdeniz University Antalya Technopark to Stanford University

Akdeniz University Antalya Technopark carried out a comprehensive visit to Stanford University, one of the world's leading universities, with the aim of strengthening international collaboration in science and technology, expanding academic knowledge production on a global scale, and developing sustainable projects particularly in healthcare, biotechnology, and R&D.

The delegation included Antalya Technopark General Manager Dr. İbrahim Yavuz, Akdeniz University Rector and Chairman of the Antalya Technopark Board Prof. Dr. Özlenen Özkan, and Prof. Dr. Ömer Özkan. During the visit, Stanford University's scientific research infrastructure, innovation initiatives, and project processes were examined in detail. Discussions focused on how Akdeniz University's academic strength and Antalya Technopark's entrepreneurship and technology development capacity could be integrated with Stanford's globally successful research and innovation ecosystem.

Meetings with Stanford University officials highlighted potential collaboration areas including research models, joint R&D projects, program-based partnerships, entrepreneurship-driven cooperation, and technology commercialization processes. Strategic approaches for establishing long-term and sustainable project partnerships were also discussed.

Commenting on the visit, Prof. Dr. Özlenen Özkan stated that their meetings with Stanford University made significant contributions to combining academic knowledge with innovative technology and emphasized that their goal is to develop strong international collaborations, particularly in healthcare and biotechnology.

As part of the program, the delegation also visited the Canary Center for Cancer Early Detection, where they examined advanced research activities and innovative technologies developed at the center.

They met with distinguished scientists Prof. Dr. Utkan Demirci and faculty member Dr. Gözde Durmuş, conducting comprehensive discussions on early detection technologies, advanced imaging methods, and biotechnology-based innovative solutions.

Evaluating the work carried out at the center, Dr. İbrahim Yavuz stated that the technology and research capacity observed there could yield significant outcomes when combined with Antalya Technopark's entrepreneurship and technology development efforts, adding that they aim to establish new collaborations in health technologies.

The visit aimed to enhance engagement with international research networks, develop joint projects on a global scale, and make the university–industry collaboration model more effective and sustainable.

The program is expected to contribute significantly to the development of new joint projects in health technologies, biotechnology, and R&D. In this context, future initiatives are planned, including collaborative research projects, joint laboratory studies, and entrepreneurship-driven technology transfer programs.

Prof. Dr. Ömer Özkan emphasized that such international connections provide important academic opportunities and noted that collaboration with a globally pioneering research center like Stanford University will strengthen Antalya's technology and health innovation ecosystem.

With this visit, Akdeniz University Antalya Technopark aims to increase its international visibility in research and innovation while fostering sustainable collaborations in strategic fields, particularly healthcare and biotechnology.
