Prof. Dr. Özlenen ÖZKAN

He was born in Antalya in 1978.

He completed his undergraduate medical education at Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine and his residency in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery at the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine, between 2004 and 2008.

He was appointed Associate Professor at Akdeniz University in 2010 and became a Professor in 2018. Since 2010, he has served as Head of the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine.

He was part of the medical team responsible for several groundbreaking achievements, including Türkiye's first bilateral arm transplant in 2010, the world's first uterus transplant from a deceased donor in 2011, and Türkiye's first face transplant in 2012.

He is proficient in English. He is married and has two children.

Appointed Rector of Akdeniz University by Presidential Decree No. 31213, dated August 14, 2020, Prof. Dr. Özlenen Özkan was reappointed to the position by Presidential Decree No. 32634, dated August 16, 2024.

Since January 7, 2021, she has served as Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Antalya Technopark.
